Where Is La Mariposa Wedding Venue

La Mariposa Resort is located on the East side of Tucson, situated in the Tanque Verde Valley. The resort is located less than five minutes from the main road. Guests turn off of Noth Houghton Road and follow a paved road that will wind around the venue’s parking lot. A benefit of La Mariposa is that their parking is very close to the entrance. 

Best Locations For Wedding Photos

There are several areas to take wedding photos around the property. As I mentioned before, the cottonwood trees are tall and beautiful and create a lovely backdrop for photos. An added bonus is that the mature trees create some shaded areas for family and friends to stand under. During those warmer, summer months this little bit of shade is wonderful, especially when friends and family are often wearing suits. La Mariposa wedding venue also has a small pond on the property that couples often enjoy taking photos by. The green lawns with the Catalina and Rincon mountains in the background create a beautiful setting for photos too.

Ceremony and Reception Locations at La Mariposa

La Mariposa offers various options for ceremony and reception locations. For ceremony locations, couples can choose either in front of the gazebo or on the hill. There is also the option to hold the ceremony in front of the water by the pond.

For reception locations, couples can choose either the elegant banquet room or the patio. The banquet room has floor-to-ceiling windows and a dance floor with a skylight directly above it. However, Tucson is known for its outdoor weddings, and La Mariposa is known for hosting incredible outdoor receptions on the patio. The patio is lit with string lights and the firepit adjacent to the patio makes for a nice place for guests to sit and relax.

The Bridal Suite

One of my favorite amenities that La Mariposa offers is the bridal dressing room. The bridal area has floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the room with natural light. There is a private bathroom and the entire upstairs is often available for the bride and her bridesmaids to have their hair and makeup done comfortably.

Groom’s Suite

Other amenities include an area for the Groom and Groomsman to relax. There is an outdoor firepit and patio area that is great for dancing for outdoor receptions. 

Guest Size

La Mariposa can accommodate more intimate gatherings of up to 200 guests. Their website has venue pricing available here.

Wedding Vendor Recommendations

La Mariposa does provide all food except a wedding cake. Flowers and other decor items are not provided by La Mariposa either. The venue does not allow artificial flowers outside. I recommend Jamies Cakes or Cakes by Genevieve if you are looking for a cake vendor. I have loved working with Elements of Design and In Full Bloom if you are looking for a floral artist.
