The Stillwell House and Gardens Wedding Venue

Stillwell House and Gardens is a beautiful historic wedding venue in downtown Tucson, Arizona. Couples fall in love with the Stillwell House for their wedding because it is a romantic, and elegant wedding venue in the heart of Tucson, Arizona.

What The Stillwell House and Gardens Has To Offer

The Stillwell House has the perfect blend of historical charm and elegant ambiance for your wedding. Once you arrive, you and your guests will fall in love with the lush, brick-lined courtyard. The large arbor is full of romantic flowering vines, creating the perfect backdrop for your ceremony.

If you choose to have an outdoor reception, there are bistro lights strung across the courtyard providing lighting and an intimate atmosphere. All packages include tables, mahogany chairs, and a variety of table linens to choose from.

The 1901 Room features a historic Antique bar circa 1900 from the famed Old Pueblo Club. This room provides a great area for dancing, an entertainment stage, restrooms, gift and card box table, and a faux green backdrop for your cake and dessert table.

About The Owner Of The Stillwell House

In 2000, the Stillwell House was purchased by the Flores family. Currently, Candace Flores Carrillo, a certified wedding planner who brings her 25 years of catering and event design experience to the table, is the head of operations. Chef Carlotta Flores is in charge of catering and Candace’s aunt, Wilma, is the general manager.

Every wedding I have had the pleasure of photographing at The Stillwell House, I leave impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. They have an eye for detail and are a joy to work with.

The Best Time To Have Your Wedding At The Stillwell House

The Stillwell House is known for it’s beautiful outdoor courtyard. Since many couples choose to hold their ceremony and reception outdoors at this venue, the best time to have your wedding would be in the Fall or Spring. Winter weddings at the Stillwell House are beautiful, but they may be a bit chilly at night. Luckily, the venue does have outdoor heaters that they can set up if you are holding your reception outdoors. There is an option to hold your dinner indoors at the Twig House as well.

After dinner, many couples will then share their first dance in the courtyard and then move everyone over to the 1901 room for cake cutting and dancing.

Summer weddings in Tucson are always a bit tricky due to the weather. It tends to be very hot during the day with temperatures around 100 degrees. There is also the added monsoon season that tends to begin in late June and carry through the end of August. These afternoon rainstorms are brief, but they come down fast and hard. If you are planning a wedding during the summer, I highly recommend you choose a venue that can accommodate moving everything indoors.

Favorite Photo Locations

There are some great photo locations at and around the Stillwell House. For wedding parties and family portraits, I love photographing in front of the arbor. I will say, this location is often not an option because the ceremony space has to be turned over for the reception. Staff needs to set up tables and decor for the reception, so if this location can be used, it is typically only for a short amount of time.

Another great spot is just to the side of the Twig House. There is a wall with vines growing on it and it provides a great spot for smaller family groupings. If you have a large family, in front of the Mesquite doors is another option.

For portraits together as a couple, I recommend taking a walk around the block and photographing alongside some of the other historic buildings.

How To Get To The Wedding Venue

The Stillwell House is nestled in Tucson’s historic downtown. For guests, the Stillwell House is a short drive or walk from many hotels downtown. I will say that parking is VERY limited at this venue and it is difficult to find. I HIGHLY recommend couples use the valet service that is available through the venue.
