4. select a season for your wedding
The moment you get engaged you will probably hear two things- first, “Let me see the ring!” and second, “When is the date?”. Can I just give you permission for a moment to breathe. 🙂 You do not have to choose a date the moment you get engaged. In fact, I would suggest choosing a season rather than a date. Do you want to be married in Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter? Choosing a season will help guide you both as you select a color palette, venue (how does your dream venue look at that time of year?), ceremony location (venues will often offer indoor or outdoor ceremony locations), travel for your guests, and your gown. The second reason I suggest choosing a season rather than a date is that it will help ensure that you can hire your dream team of vendors that you want to help create your wedding day dreams into a reality.
5. begin reaching out to wedding vendors
Often brides and grooms aren’t sure where to start when it comes to contacting vendors. Do they start looking at dresses, invitation suites, cakes, etc. Let me give you all an insider’s tip. From a scheduling perspective, there are a few vendors that can only accommodate one couple per date. These vendors are your venue, photographer, and wedding planner/designer. The fact that these vendors can’t book multiple clients on a wedding day, is the reason I suggest reaching out to them first. If you are considering a Spring/Fall Wedding, especially here in Arizona, you will want to consider quickly reaching out to these vendors as their schedules do book up quickly during this time.
6. make the most of your engagement session
There are a lot of to-do items to take care of when it comes to wedding planning. However, this shouldn’t take away from the excitement of this special time. Your engagement session is the time to step away from the planning and connect with each other. It is a chance to celebrate your love in an unforgettable way. So pamper yourself. Get your make-up done, buy a new dress or suit, and take a trip to an epic location and trust your photographer to capture all the sweet, joyful, romantic and and “you” moments that tell your love story.
